Trying to catch up and post a few images that have slipped through the net, I’ve missed posting anything about two concerts I had the pleasure of photographing at Kings Place for Bowers & Wilkins. The first was Roddy Woomble of Idlewild in the excellent main hall. The recording of the concert was released at ‘Roddy Woomble and Band - Live at Kings Place’
Since 2010 and the Idlewild hiatus, Roddy Woomble and his solo band have toured consistently -They are: Hannah Fisher - fiddle & vocals, Sorren Maclean - Acoustic guitar & vocals, Luciano Rossi - Piano, Craig Ainslie - electric bass and Roddy Woomble - lead vocals.
This film with A Guy Called Gerald has waited quietly since he was recording Silent Sound Spread Spectrum in The Big Room at Real World in 2012. For various tangled reasons it’s only recently found its slot with Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound.
I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen.
Somehow Gerald’s ‘cooking of sound’ to fill room brings to mind the Julian Temple talk I heard at xMedia Lab in Bath (it wasn’t a million miles from his TED talk ‘Ssh! Sound Health in 8 Steps’), so if you fancy more on the subject, he has an interesting take on sound.
