I’ve allowed over a week to pass since hurtling back from Portico Quartet‘s sell out show at York Hall in Bethnal Green. I’m not really a good judge of most events I attend as I tend to experience them through a lens, but the subsequent reviews have confirmed my suspicion that it was a vintage evening.
Visually I didn’t have the best evenings hunting, but one or two images made the cut - The Telegraph used one and bizarrely decided to crop Duncan from the shot which is tough when you’re part of a quartet, but they had been joined on stage by Cornelia for the encore performance of ‘Steepless’, so perhaps the picture editor was distracted.
A few of these images cropping up in reviews reminded my of one reason for starting this site - so often images appear with no credit, so it seems like a good idea that in at least one place they are attached to the photographer. it’s amazing how images just seem to be regarded as a sort of visual dressing, a sauce that everyone wants them to spice up the dish, but not enough to worry about who’s made it.
